Category Manager

eBrands is looking for a Category Manager, who can take each of our consumer brands to the next level! The Category Manager will own and coordinate the overall brand strategy and development for a portfolio of consumer goods brands, including brand identity and vision, product strategy development, channel decisions, and campaign coordination. He/She will closely work with our Channels to implement the strategy across all e-commerce + B2B sales channels. He/She will drive both the growth and profitability of the brands, achieving quarterly and annual financial targets.

Key Responsibilities:

Commercial Ownership of the Category

• Oversee a portfolio of consumer brands within the eBrands portfolio (e.g. Home and Lifestyle), and coordinate actions with each sales channel, supply chain, marketing and branding to ensure that the brands within the category meet the customer needs - and meet their profit targets for each quarter and year

• Take ownership of the profit and loss statements for each brand in the category and use this as the North Star to prioritize actions and initiatives

• Allocate budget and make investment decisions for the brands in the category

Strategic Ownership of the Category

• Create and improve the overall strategy for each brand in the category including for example

    o developing the brand’s marketing and product concepts

    o conducting consumer and market research

    o managing product development and optimizing offering for different channels

    o developing product pricing strategies

    o managing channel selection and geographic sales expansions

    o management portfolio on day-to-day basis, e.g., inventory forecasting, product data management, event marketing, product decisions etc.

• Coordinate actions with each sales channel, the supply chain, and the marketing and branding teams to make sure that the brand is acting in a unified manner across its key business aspects and has the correct resources in the right places to meet its goals

Drive Innovation and a Focus on Analytics

• Analyze data and insights to make informed and aligned decisions on budget allocation, demand forecasting, pricing and promotions strategies, customer service, channel and market expansions, and product portfolio optimisation

• Stay up-to-date on industry trends, current and new tools, and best practices, and identify opportunities to drive innovation and improvement across the portfolio of brands.

How is success in this role measured - KPIs:

• The overall profit and loss results for the category across sales channels

• Brand development metrics, e.g., product launch success, LTV, brand recognition, returning customer rate

Critical Skills:

• 5 years+ of experience in building brand strategies from brand identity to retail concepts and product portfolio development, marketing, market placement, customer analysis, and sales channel selection

• Strong experience of omni-channel or e-commerce environment, ideally from a multi-brand portfolio and with experience of the Amazon or Shopify environments

• Strong financial acumen to drive results and prioritize focus to meet the business targets.

• Strong influencing skills and ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders with different needs to ensure that every channel has what it needs to hit its goals.

• Analytical mindset to be able to monitor insights and drive performance across a high number of brands.

• Enthusiasm for a start-up environment with excitement to build something new in a fast-paced environment and tolerance with a level of ambiguity stemming from high growth.
