Overview

Argos is one of the best-known general merchandise retailers in the United Kingdom, selling home, toys, electronics, garden, sports and much more online at argos.co.uk and through its stores and collection points. In August 2026 it launched Argos Marketplace, where vetted "Trusted Sellers" sell directly to Argos customers. For a brand that wants to reach UK shoppers through a household name, Argos is a new and still uncrowded marketplace.

Who is behind Argos

Argos was owned by Sainsbury's from 2016. In July 2026 Sainsbury's agreed to sell Argos to Swift Partners for GBP 120 million, so it can focus on food. The two will keep commercial links, including Argos stores and collection points inside Sainsbury's, the Nectar loyalty programme and Nectar360 retail media. In its latest annual results, Argos had sales of GBP 4.1 billion. Argos once had more than 800 stores, but most of its physical presence is now in smaller stores and concessions inside Sainsbury's.

Argos Marketplace

  • Live since August 2026 on Mirakl, with around 80 Trusted Sellers at launch, including brands and retailers well known on UK marketplaces.
  • Fast expansion. Argos plans to offer more than 130,000 products from vetted third-party retailers and brands by the end of 2026, including beauty brands such as Clarins and Dermalogica.
  • Nectar points can be earned on marketplace purchases.
  • The seller delivers and handles customer service. Marketplace items cannot be collected or returned in Argos stores.

How selling on Argos works

  • Application. Argos is curated, and sellers apply to become Trusted Sellers through Argos' "Sell on Argos" page.
  • Mirakl. Sellers already live on other Mirakl marketplaces can connect more easily, directly or through a multichannel tool.
  • Commission is agreed in the seller contract and has not been published.
  • UK delivery. Sellers deliver to UK addresses and need UK-ready logistics and returns.

Why Argos matters for brands

Argos is a trusted name with millions of UK customers, and its marketplace is at a very early stage. Brands that join now can build sales history and visibility before the marketplace becomes crowded.
