Overview

Fruugo is a UK-based global online marketplace that lets sellers reach shoppers in 42 countries from a single product feed. It automatically translates listings into the local language, converts prices into local currencies and promotes products to shoppers abroad. For a brand that wants to test international demand without building a presence in each country, Fruugo is one of the easiest cross-border channels to start with.

Who is behind Fruugo

Fruugo is headquartered in Cumbria, in the United Kingdom, and employs around 150 people in Europe and Asia. It supports transactions in 42 countries, 31 currencies and 28 languages. In November 2025 the Financial Times named Fruugo Britain's fastest-growing business of the last decade, and third across Europe. Fruugo reported 25% festive sales growth for the six weeks to 24.12.2025 and said it had rebuilt the business around better sellers, better products and stronger compliance with regulators' requirements. It has also opened an office in Shanghai to support sellers there.

How selling on Fruugo works

  • One feed, many countries. Sellers send a product feed and choose which countries to sell to. Fruugo translates content, converts prices and handles local payment methods.
  • Search-driven traffic. Fruugo promotes localised product pages to shoppers through search, including Google Shopping in each country.
  • No sale, no fee. There are no monthly or listing fees. Fruugo charges a commission on completed sales, which industry sources report at around 15%, including payment, translation and currency costs.
  • The seller ships each order internationally and handles returns according to each country's consumer laws.
  • Approval and compliance. Fruugo reviews applications and is tightening seller quality and product compliance.

What a brand should think about

  • International shipping costs and times, which are the main operational challenge.
  • Product compliance in each destination country.
  • Margin, since commission and cross-border shipping add up.

Why Fruugo matters for brands

Fruugo removes much of the complexity of selling abroad, which makes it a low-risk way to find out which countries respond to a brand's products.
