Maisons du Monde is a French retailer of furniture and home décor, known for its inspirational, themed collections. It sells in more than 300 stores in France and other European countries and online, where it also runs a marketplace with partner brands. For a home or décor brand, Maisons du Monde has been an important European channel, but the company is going through a major financial restructuring.
Who is behind Maisons du Monde
Maisons du Monde is based in Nantes and listed in Paris. After record sales of EUR 1.31 billion in 2021, its business declined: sales fell to EUR 947 million in 2025, down 5%, and it reported a net loss of EUR 406 million. It ended 2025 with 328 stores, including affiliated stores run by partners. The company entered a conciliation procedure with its creditors in January 2026 and looked for new investors. In 2026 it signed a refinancing agreement under which British investment funds could take around 95% of the capital, and it said that without completing the refinancing by 15.09.2026 it would have to request court-supervised restructuring. Brands should check the current status before committing.
The Maisons du Monde marketplace
Maisons du Monde added a marketplace to its website to extend its range with partner products, and it earns commissions on marketplace sales. Online sales, both direct and through the marketplace, fell about 10% in the fourth quarter of 2025.
