Overview
Prisma.fi Marketplace: Finland’s trusted online store opens its shelves to new brands. Something new is happening in Finnish e-commerce. Prisma.fi, the online store of S Group’s Prisma hypermarkets, is turning into a marketplace. For the first time, brands outside Prisma’s own range can sell directly to Finnish shoppers through one of the country’s best-known retail names. The store already covers electronics, home goods, fashion, toys, sports, garden, DIY, beauty and pet products, and the marketplace will widen that range considerably.
For brands looking at the Nordics, this is one of the more interesting openings of the year. Here is what Prisma.fi is, how the marketplace works, and what it takes to sell there.
From online store to marketplace
On 30.09.2026, S Group announced that Prisma.fi will become a marketplace. Carefully selected outside sellers and brands will be added alongside Prisma’s own range, and the assortment will grow in phases.
The ambition is big. S Group expects the range to grow up to tenfold. At launch, the aim is a few dozen sellers and roughly double the current Prisma.fi assortment, with electronics, home and sports among the first categories to grow.
The rollout has already begun. The marketplace is being added in phases from autumn 2026, the model has been piloted with the first sellers, and the first customers get to try it in October.
S Group’s stated goal is to compete with the global e-commerce giants by offering Finnish shoppers a wider selection in a store they already know.
Who is behind Prisma.fi
Prisma.fi is part of S Group, a customer-owned Finnish network of retail and service businesses with more than 1,800 locations and over 40,000 employees in Finland. The group’s combined net sales in 2025 were EUR 15.4 billion, and S Group says around four million people use its S-Etukortti membership card every day.
The membership card matters here. Co-op members collect Bonus on their purchases, and purchases on the marketplace will keep earning Bonus. Prisma.fi advertises Bonus of up to 5% for co-op members. A product listed on Prisma.fi sits in a store that a large share of Finnish households already have a reason to come back to.
What the shopper sees
For customers, little changes. Prisma.fi stays one familiar online store, and buying works the same way as before. Products from marketplace sellers appear next to Prisma’s own range, with the same checkout and the same payment methods, including cards, MobilePay, Apple Pay and Finnish online banks.
Trust is central to how Prisma.fi presents itself. S Group positions the marketplace as a way for Finns to shop a wide selection without worrying about product safety or about their personal data leaving the country. That message is aimed at the cross-border platforms many Finnish shoppers use today.
Who can sell on Prisma.fi
Prisma.fi is a curated marketplace. Sellers are chosen carefully, and only reliable Finnish and European sellers who commit to Prisma’s contract terms are accepted. Prisma sets the rules and works with sellers to keep the customer experience reliable and smooth.
A brand considering Prisma.fi should be ready with the following:
- Finnish-language content. Product titles, descriptions and selling points appear to shoppers in Finnish, so listings need proper localisation written for Finnish readers.
- Clean product data. Accurate GTIN/EAN codes, dimensions, weights and category information help listings get approved and help shoppers find them.
- Good imagery. Clear, high-resolution product images that meet the marketplace’s image rules. Marketing images with text baked into them often don’t qualify.
- EU product compliance. Safety documentation, labelling and the information required under EU product rules, since product safety is a big part of Prisma.fi’s promise to customers.
- Reliable fulfilment and service. Accurate stock, dependable delivery to Finnish customers, and a returns process that meets Finnish expectations. Prisma.fi’s returns and order and delivery terms show the standard shoppers are used to.
Already selling elsewhere? How Prisma.fi fits in
Many brands already sell on Amazon, on their own webshop or on European marketplaces such as Bol, Kaufland or Allegro. Prisma.fi works differently from most of these, and the differences are worth understanding before adding it to the mix.
The seller base is much smaller and hand-picked, so a listing competes with fewer offers on the same shelf. The audience is almost entirely Finnish, which means content, service and delivery all need to be built for one country and one language. And shoppers arrive with an existing relationship to the store through Bonus and their membership card, which is something a new brand rarely gets on an open marketplace.
For a brand with good product data, compliant packaging and a working EU logistics setup, much of the groundwork is often already in place. The main new work is usually Finnish localisation and adapting listings to Prisma.fi’s own content rules.
Why Prisma.fi matters for brands entering the Nordics
Finland has about 5.6 million people, and Finnish consumers tend to trust domestic retailers. A brand new to the country normally has to earn that trust from scratch. On Prisma.fi, it sells under a name Finns already know and shop with.
S Group also describes Prisma.fi as a growth platform for brands, distributors and retailers, and points out that success on a domestic marketplace can be a springboard to international growth. The same works in reverse for brands coming from abroad: a solid position in Finland is a practical first step into the wider Nordic region, where buying habits, price levels and expectations around quality and service are similar.
Timing matters as well. The marketplace is in its early phase, with a limited number of sellers and categories still being built. Brands that join now face a less crowded shelf than they will once the range has grown tenfold.
