Overview
Superdrug is the UK's second-largest health and beauty retailer, with more than 800 stores in the UK and Ireland and a large online business. It is known for affordable beauty, trending brands and its own-brand products. Since 2022 it has run Superdrug Marketplace, where selected brands sell directly to Superdrug's online customers. For a beauty, health or wellness brand, Superdrug is one of the most important channels in the UK.
Who is behind Superdrug
Superdrug is the UK arm of A.S. Watson Group, the world's largest international health and beauty retailer, which also owns Kruidvat, The Perfume Shop and Savers. In the financial year to December 2025, Superdrug's sales grew 5.2% to GBP 1.7 billion, and its pre-tax profit rose 5.3% to GBP 144.1 million, its fifth consecutive year of growth. It opened 22 new stores in 2025 and planned 30 more in retail parks in 2026. A.S. Watson has also been preparing a stock market listing in London and Hong Kong. See also our Kruidvat page.
Superdrug Marketplace
Superdrug launched its marketplace in November 2022, becoming the first UK high street health and beauty retailer to do so. It is built on Mirakl and integrated into superdrug.com, with around 300 brands at launch. Superdrug wanted to support entrepreneurs and small businesses and widen its online range, from luxury brands to new "kitchen-table" creations, and to give brands without the infrastructure for a national store listing a way to work with Superdrug.
How selling on Superdrug works
- Verified sellers. Brands apply to the marketplace team, and Superdrug accepts and onboards each seller.
- Fees. Superdrug's marketplace is commission-based: sellers pay a commission on each sale plus a fixed monthly fee.
- The seller ships orders to customers.
- Strict content rules, including title formats and image requirements, and correct categories.
- UK cosmetics and product compliance for each item.
- A Mirakl connection, directly or through a multichannel tool.
Why Superdrug matters for brands
Superdrug reaches millions of UK beauty shoppers and is known for launching trending brands. Its marketplace gives brands access to that audience without a store listing, and can be a first step towards one.
