Overview
The Range is a UK home, garden and leisure retailer with more than 280 stores across the UK and Ireland and a large online marketplace. It sells furniture, homeware, garden, DIY, crafts, pets, toys and seasonal products at value prices. Its online marketplace, Range Plus, offers close to one million products, with third-party sellers making up a large share of online sales. For a home, garden or lifestyle brand, The Range is one of the biggest retailer marketplaces in the UK.
Who is behind The Range
The Range is operated by CDS Superstores International, founded by Chris Dawson, and is owned by Norton Group Holdings. The group also owns the Wilko brand, which it bought out of administration in 2023 and relaunched online, Homebase, whose brand and dozens of stores it bought in late 2024, and Bathstore. In the financial year to February 2025, CDS Superstores' revenue grew 13.5% to GBP 1.47 billion, helped by converting former Homebase stores to The Range, and it has since opened more stores, including in Ireland.
Range Plus marketplace
The Range has run an established online marketplace for several years. In 2026 it moved from its own in-house marketplace system to Mirakl, completing onboarding in March 2026. The move added AI tools to manage sellers and Mirakl Ads, so marketplace sellers can advertise to The Range's millions of shoppers. The Range says applications for new marketplace sellers remain open.
How selling on The Range works
- Approved sellers. Sellers apply and are approved by The Range.
- Mirakl. Sellers manage their shop through Mirakl Connect or the Mirakl merchant portal.
- Commission. For commission-based sellers, The Range charges a percentage of the total sale price, including shipping, and gives 90 days' notice of fee changes.
- The seller ships orders directly to customers and handles returns.
- Advertising through Mirakl Ads.
- UK compliance for each category.
Why The Range matters for brands
The Range combines a large UK store network with a very large online marketplace and a value-focused audience that shops for home and garden. Its move to Mirakl makes it easier for sellers already on other UK Mirakl marketplaces, such as B&Q and Debenhams, to connect.
