Zalando is Europe's largest online fashion and lifestyle platform, headquartered in Berlin and operating across 25 European markets. Founded in 2008 by Robert Gentz and David Schneider with inspiration from American online shoe retailer Zappos, Zalando began by selling shoes in Germany and grew with extraordinary speed through aggressive marketing and a relentless focus on selection, delivery speed, and free returns.

The Partner Programme
Zalando's Partner Programme allows brands to sell directly on Zalando.com while managing their own inventory and fulfilment. Brands set their own prices and maintain brand control, paying Zalando a commission on completed sales. The programme has grown substantially and now accounts for a significant share of Zalando's overall GMV.
Zalando Fulfillment Solutions (ZFS) allows Partner Programme brands to store inventory in Zalando's warehouse network, enabling next-day delivery and returns handling consistent with Zalando's customer promises. ZFS products receive preferential placement in Zalando's search and recommendation algorithms, making it commercially important for brands wanting strong visibility on the platform.
Beyond fashion
Zalando has been extending its platform beyond pure fashion into beauty, sports, and home/lifestyle categories. The Zalando Beauty category in particular has grown significantly, with an assortment spanning prestige, mid-market, and emerging beauty brands. For brands in adjacent lifestyle categories, Zalando's enormous consumer reach and strong brand trust across Europe makes it an increasingly relevant channel beyond its traditional fashion core.
