Overview

Fnac is one of the best-known retailers in France for books, music, film, games, technology and electronics, with stores in France, Belgium, Spain, Portugal and Switzerland and online at fnac.com. Its marketplace lets third-party sellers offer new and second-hand products next to Fnac's own range. For a brand in electronics, gaming, culture, toys or home tech, Fnac is a key channel in France and several neighbouring markets.

Who is behind Fnac

Fnac was founded in Paris in 1954 and is part of Fnac Darty, the group formed when Fnac bought Darty in 2016. After buying the Italian electronics chain Unieuro in 2024, Fnac Darty had revenue of EUR 10.33 billion in 2025, with online sales making up 22% of the total and click and collect accounting for close to half of online orders. In January 2026, EP Group, controlled by Daniel Křetínský, launched a takeover offer for Fnac Darty. See also our Darty page.

The Fnac marketplace

Fnac's marketplace offers third-party products next to Fnac's own range, including second-hand and refurbished products. Fnac Darty has highlighted the momentum of its marketplace activity, both new and refurbished, as a growth driver. Fnac's customers are loyal, partly thanks to its membership programme, and many shop across both stores and online.

How selling on Fnac works

  • Professional sellers apply to sell on the Fnac marketplace.
  • Local-language content, mainly French, mapped to Fnac's categories.
  • French eco-fees and compliance for electrical and electronic products, toys and other regulated categories.
  • Fulfilment and returns to customers, with service levels that fit Fnac's reputation.
  • Commission per sale, depending on the category.

Why Fnac matters for brands

Fnac is a trusted name for culture and technology shoppers in France and several European countries, and its marketplace gives brands access to that audience without a store listing.
