Conforama is one of France's best-known retailers for furniture, home equipment, appliances and décor, with around 180 stores in France and a busy website at conforama.fr. Its marketplace, Marketplace by Confo, lets selected professional sellers offer products next to Conforama's own range. For a home or furniture brand, Conforama is a strong route to French households.
Who is behind Conforama
Conforama was founded in 1967 and is headquartered in Marne-la-Vallée, near Paris. In 2020 its French business was acquired by Mobilux, the parent company of BUT, whose shareholders are the Austrian furniture group XXXLutz and the US investment firm CD&R. BUT and Conforama now form a combined group that shares resources while keeping both brands. Conforama counts 182 stores in France, including 15 franchised, and more than 104 million visits a year, of which 76 million are online.
Online and the marketplace
Online sales made up 13.3% of Conforama's revenue in 2023. Conforama's marketplace adds products from partner sellers to its own range, and it can also capture sales when a Conforama product is out of stock in store or online. E-commerce research firm ECDB estimates that third-party sellers made up about 26% of Conforama's online GMV in 2025.
